Somerset break their duck in style

On target: Jessica Furtado scored twice in PHC’s 6-3 win over Dandy Stars

Somerset earned their first points of the season with an emphatic 11-3 victory over Hamilton Parish.

The West Enders jumped out to a commanding 5-1 lead by half-time and never looked back during the game at Warwick Academy.

Dazhya Greaves capped a memorable outing by scoring four goals for Somerset, while DeShae Darrell grabbed a hat trick. Tshana Wade and Trinae Edwards both scored twice to round off the scoring. Parish replied with goals from Karen deChabert, Kaeh- lah Ming and Asriel Basden.

Recording the day’s biggest win were Women’s Futsal League newcomers CP Chicas who blasted Young Men’s Social Club 28-1.

Chicas scored at will and were leading 11-1 at the break. Shauntae Todd led Chicas’ charge with nine goals, while the league’s leading scorer, Cleshaunay Darrell-Virgil, helped herself to seven.

Jayden Masters added five more, Hana Bushara netted a hat trick while Rayni Maybury scored a brace and Danni Watson and Jordan Davies grabbed one each. Jahdayna Samuels scored Social Club’s consolation goal.

The remaining match saw two-times defending champions PHC outscore Dandy Stars 6-3 in a close battle to maintain their unbeaten streak.

Very little separated the two teams in the first half which ended 1-1.

However, the game opened up after the break with PHC eventually coming out on top.

Aaliyah Nolan was PHC’s goal scoring hero with a hat trick, Jessica Furtado added a brace while Kalay Hollis rounded off the champions’ scoring.

Stars replied through Kyla Ramatar, who netted a brace, and Tiara Smith.
