Dressage competition will take place tomorrow at Vesey Street as part of the FEI World Dressage Challenge 2015 which is being held in some 56 countries.

Action will begin at 12.30pm at the Bermuda Equestrian Centre, followed at 2.30pm by the prize presentation. Several local riders will compete in various categories.

The FEI World Dressage Challenge is in its 35th year and seeks to promote and expand horse-riding skills in developing countries throughout the world. In addition, it enables people all over the world to enjoy equestrian culture.

The interest in dressage has been steady over the years with 16 countries participating in 1982, 42 countries in 1996, and an estimated 56 countries in 2015 can best express the popularity and success of the dressage development project.

The major objectives of this worldwide dressage competition are to:

n to give the less experienced dressage riders, who under normal circumstances, cannot take part in international dressage competitions, in the more remote countries of the world, the opportunity to compete internationally without having to leave their own country.

n to promote the new generations. Last year, 276 children from 48 national federations competed in the Challenge.

Internationally experienced FEI Judges will travel to the individual geographical regions of the world to judge this competition and give the riders a clinic to teach them the art of dressage.

Each group of countries is judged by the same ground jury composed of two FEI judges appointed by the FEI.
