A former Masterworks’ artist-in-residence has won a prestigious European cartoon award.

The Economist cartoonist Kevin Kallaugher had his work selected as the best published in any European country.

As the winner of the Grand Prix Press Cartoon Europe, he received€ €8,000 and a trophy.

Mr Kallaugher created a series of cartoons about Bermuda while here last year.

“His show was a little under the radar with it taking place during the summer when a lot of people are travelling but he is definitely one of the most high-profile visiting artists that has come to Bermuda to make a body of work,” said Masterworks’ Kate Ross.

Mr Kallaugher’s winning cartoon published in The Economist in October. It was picked from 400 published works by 151 cartoonists in 26 countries.
