PHC on course for hat-trick of titles

Two times defending champions PHC top the women’s futsal league at the halfway stage of the season and on present form appear destined for a third straight title.

The unbeaten Zebras further underlined their dominance after thrashing lowly Hamilton Parish 10-1 at Warwick Academy Gymnasium last Saturday.

Jessica Furtado and Aaliyah Nolan both scored four goals for the champions while Haley Bright added a brace. Parish replied through Kaahlah Ming.

PHC top the pile by three-points over CP Chicas who have impressed so far in their inaugural season in the league.

A further six points off the lead in third are Dandy Stars who simply had things all their own way in a 8-0 demolition of cellar dwellers Young Men’s Social Club who, despite suffering a fourth loss of the season, produced some of their best football this term.

Social Club proved to be a tough nut to crack in the first period and trailed only 1-0 at half-time.

However, Stars eventually found a way through in the second period and banged in seven unanswered goals.

Zahra Gibbons netted a hat trick for Stars, Tiara Smith added a brace while Jada Samuels, Donte Allen and Brianna Swainson scored one apiece.

The remaining match featuring Somerset and CP Chicas was postponed due to the death of for mer Somerset Cricket Club president Colin Smith, who passed away the day before.
