Pilgrim gets the ball rolling in exodus to Florida

In action: Nick Pilgrim, 12, is the youngest in Bermuda’s contingent that will compete in the US over the next fortnight

Bermuda’s junior triathletes will begin their season competing in Florida over the next couple of weeks.

Tyler Smith, Erica Hawley, Alex Pilgrim, Nick Pilgrim and Lynsey Palmer will travel to the United States to test themselves against the best juniors from the host nation, Mexico and Canada.

Nick Pilgrim, 12, is the youngest member of the group and he will race tomorrow in the Clermont Youth Challenge, a draft legal race over the super sprint distance of 375-metre swim, ten-kilometre bike ride and 2.5km run.

The next weekend, March 15, Hawley and Smith return to action in Sarasota in the CAMTRI North American Championships, which is a 750-metre swim, 20km bike and 5km race, which is also draft legal.

That same day Nick Pilgrim, older brother Alex and Palmer will compete in a super sprint series race in Sarasota, on the same loop course as the CAMTRI race.
