Burglar remanded into custody

A serial burglar has pleaded guilty to more break-ins.

Stanley Davis, 48, earlier this month admitted one count of burglary and two counts of prowling about a dwelling house in December, but denied a charge of entering a Rockland Lane residence on November 12 and assaulting a resident.

However, during a mention in Supreme Court yesterday, Davis reversed his plea and admitted the charge.

Puisne Judge Carlisle Greaves remanded the defendant into custody, ordering that a social inquiry report and a drug assessment be carried out before sentencing.

Davis has a long history of similar offences. In 2012 he was sentenced to a year behind bars for a 2010 incident in which he broke into a hotel room at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and fought with an American tourist who was staying in the room with his wife. That sentence was subsequently increased to 30 months by the Court of Appeals.

At that time, the court heard he already amassed 36 convictions for burglary since 1985, along with other convictions for prowling and receiving stolen goods.
