Dear Sir,

Parents are proud of their children for any number of things. As children, it is difficult to understand what parents go through and we often miss the chance to celebrate their accomplishments. This makes the opportunities to share pride in your parents all the more valuable.

Soon, I will have the honour of attending a recognition dinner where my mother, Erna Taylor, will be celebrating 40 years of teaching at Mount Saint Agnes Academy. I am very lucky to share in something that her family is proud of. Most importantly, she should be proud. It is hard to put a number on the children’s lives she has touched over the years, including her own two children.

If you know her and see her, please congratulate her. If you do not, know that this Island is a much better place thanks to teachers like her.

She is wonderful, compassionate and thoughtful, and I am grateful to share this milestone with her.
