Spiritual gathering packs Hamilton church

Bishop Lloyd Duncan

It was a packed hall last night at the Heritage Worship Centre in Hamilton as upwards of a thousand people from churches all over the Island joined together for song, prayer and sermons.

“This level of service has not been done for some time, where we have the major denominational leaders coming together,” said Bishop Lloyd Duncan of the Church of God.

The Island’s houses of worship regularly hold fellowship at one another’s churches, whether through standard services, women’s or men’s days or funerals — “but for some time it has been our wish to come together in unison”, he said.

Denominational leaders included Bishop Robert Kurtz of the Roman Catholic Church, and Bishop Nick Dill of the Anglican Church, along with Bishop Vernon Lambe, general overseer of the First Church of God on North Shore; Bishop Neville Smith of the Radnor Road Christian Fellowship; Bishop Stephen Jones of the United Holy Church of Bermuda, and Bishop Calvin Armstrong of the House of Prayer on Marsh Folly, Pembroke.

The Dundonald Street church will also host workshops and services with visiting pastor Mark Chironna this Friday and Saturday, from the Church on the Living Edge in Orlando, Florida.
