Bus problem totally unacceptable

Dear Sir,

First, as a qualifier, I was born and raised on this Island and at the age of 17 moved to the USA where I now reside. Having the opportunity to come home is always exciting, visiting with family and friends, observing the changes and growth of this Island, while enjoying the uniqueness of the people/Bermudians that make this such a wonderful island.

Today something happened that is totally unacceptable! The Number 4 bus to Spanish Point, due to depart Hamilton at 4.45pm, was cancelled at 4.53pm. No other option was offered by the gentleman making the announcement, other than he was just making the announcement. The next bus would depart at 5.45pm! More than 10 people were waiting to get on that bus, people of all ages. A few had groceries, most were residents and at least two of us were tourists.

Transportation via the bus should be as advertised, the terminal that houses all the buses must have at least a spare bus and driver in the event that one has to be cancelled.

I understand things happen — accidents, illness —but, surely you have a plan that makes transportation accountable for the circumstances that occur. With all due respect this is no way to run a business, much less a government agency.

From all accounts this is not the first time issues have occurred with the transportation services. Perhaps there is a problem that needs to be addressed?

Just someone trying to get home on a Sunday.
