If disharmony grows, life we love will go

Dear Sir,

I am in shock and disbelief. A reality/unreality/Alice in Wonderland/financial incompetent nightmare, all rolled into one.

“Follow the money” they say, $18 million to be exact. Usually you would end up with a find.

But one suspects that there is an extraordinarily devious hand at work, the one that has taught us, “now you see it, now you don’t”. No paper trails? No deposit slips? No withdrawals? No documents?

It seems to me that it must be very hard for Government ministers to cooperate and negotiate with some whose only agenda appears to disrupt. Surely peaceful negotiations would be to the benefit of all Bermudians.

If harmony is not restored as quickly as possible, it will make the business of governing increasingly difficult.

Why would anyone want to shoot this Island in the foot? Think, Mr and Mrs Bermuda, think. If the disharmony grows, the life we all know and love here on this lovely little Island will slowly disintegrate and crumble — we will all go down to reap nothing.

This is so tragic, in the light of the greatest opportunity for recovery Bermuda has ever had with the America’s Cup in 2017.

If you want a job you will be able to have one, maybe even more than one. This is a chance for all of us to benefit and prosper. If we are patient and wise and do not disrupt before we can pick the fruit and eat it, then Bermuda will once again become the Mecca of prosperity, the envy of the world, and we will all be so proud that WE did it.

That we support our Government now, for the sake of our country, regardless of party or favour, is the right thing to do. Let’s do it.

Diana Williams,
