Having fun: A scene from the new Warwick Gas Station commercial, created in partnership with Burnt House Productions and utilising special camera effects to give the appearance of items in suspended animation, floating in the air

A fun commercial has been created to promote Warwick Gas Station, with the production team behind the popular Bermuda Happy video creating the latest entertaining video.“We’re always trying to stay ahead of the game with ways to bring the community the best product and service offering that we can. We thought that a fun, catchy commercial would be good entertainment and create a nice buzz. We hope people get a kick out of it,” said Michael Terceira, office manager for the gas station.“We have been following Burnt House Productions’ work for years and were particularly impressed with their Bermuda Happy video. We knew we wanted to work with this first-class local talent.”Burnt House Productions’ Happy video, featuring the Pharrell Williams’ hit song of the same name, has had more than 300,000 hits on YouTube since it was posted in February 2014. The Bermuda-based media production company has created a range of music video, corporate ads, television promos, short films and documentaries for local and international clients. The company’s director Andrew Kirkpatrick said: “The best part of working on the Warwick Gas Station commercial was the creative freedom given to us. It allowed us to get creative with the project and try some interesting new filming effects.”The one-minute video shows a customer enter Warwick Gas Station where everything appears to be in suspended animation, including customers and staff in various poses, and potato chips, soda cans and candy bars that are frozen in mid-air. When the bemused customer swipes his RUBiS rewards card everything changes.Mr Kirkpatrick said: “In order to have the corn curls, snickers bars, and sodas suspended in animation, while still interacting with the moving environment, we had to track the footage and create a virtual camera for the modelled products. After rendering the 3D elements we had to cut each person out to make it look like the products belong in the environment.” The commercial is sponsored by Coca-Cola, Snickers, and Herr’s, and helps to promote the RUBiS Rewards programme and Warwick Gas station’s unique ‘free drink with a fill-up’ promotion.
