Wade grabs winner for West

Tschana Wade’s extra-time thunderbolt helped the West retain their Bermuda Futsal Federation Women’s All-Star title at Bermuda College at the weekend.

The West defeated the East 13-12 in an extremely close 25-goal thriller.

The two teams remained deadlocked at 8-8 at the end of regulation time, forcing the All-Star game to spill over into extra time for the first time in the event’s four-year history.

Both teams held the lead in extra time and just when it seemed as though it would take penalties to separate them, Wade scored in the winner.

Wade led the West’s charge with five goals, Aaliyah Nolan chipped in with four while Jessica Furtado and Taznae Fubler each netted braces.

Cheyra Bell and Rayni Maybury each scored four goals in a losing cause for the East, Jada Samuels added a brace while Nia Christopher and Cleshaunay Darrell-Virgil also found the net.

After the enthralling All-Star contest, league and All-Star trophy presentations were made by representatives from the Bermuda Futsal Federation, Bermuda Football Association and Keith Tozer, the Fifa instructor, US Men’s National Futsal Coach and league commissioner of the US Professional Futsal League.

Trophies were presented to league champions PHC Zebras with a special Outstanding Achievement Award handed to club coach Waynesha Bean in recognition of her team’s third consecutive league title.

PHC have not been beaten in more than two seasons.

Other awards were presented to the league’s leading scorer and MVP, Aaliyah Nolan, Most Outstanding Goalkeeper, Symira Lowe-Darrell, and All-Star MVP Tschana Wade.
