Burgess set to link up with stars

Big challenge: Burgess has been assigned to CPL side St Lucia Zouks

The Caribbean Premier League have confirmed Christian Burgess spot with the St Lucia Zouks franchise next month.

Burgess will train alongside the likes of Darren Sammy, the West Indies all-rounder, New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor and England batsman Kevin Pietersen as he tries to earn a place with the team for this season’s CPL.

The Bermuda wicketkeeper is one of six players from the ICC Americas region who have been assigned to franchises in the league.

Steven Taylor, the United States wicketkeeper, will join Barbados Tridents, with Satsimranjit Dhindsa, the Canada fast bowler, joining Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The other three players are all from Canada, with Nikhil Dutta joining St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Farhan Malik has been assigned to Jamaica Tallawahs, while Nitish Kumar will try his luck with Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel.

The training camp runs from June 13 to 18, with the CPL taking place from June 21 to July 26.
