PLP ‘most in touch with voter concerns’

More than half of the population believes the Progressive Labour Party is the political group most in touch with the concerns of Bermudians.

A survey by Profiles of Bermuda found that 51.4 per cent of those polled thought the PLP was most in touch with voters’ concerns, compared with 48.4 per cent in 2014.

A little more than a quarter of voters said the One Bermuda Alliance was in touch with the concerns of Bermudians.

Cordell Riley, managing director of Profiles in Bermuda, said: “There were vast differences along racial lines. Just under seven in ten blacks, or 69.1 per cent, felt that the PLP were more in touch with voter concerns, identical to the result obtained in 2014.

“Half of whites and others felt that the OBA was more in touch with Bermudians compared to 56.2 per cent in 2014.

“In addition, just over a quarter of whites and others felt that neither party was in touch with voter concerns, compared to 12.5 per cent of blacks who felt that way.”
