Man guilty of having cannabis worth $250,000

A Sandys man yesterday admitted possessing more than ten pounds of cannabis with intent to supply.

Clienty Butterfield, 35, from Woodlawn Road, pleaded guilty in Supreme Court of two counts of possessing cannabis with intent to supply on October 30 last year.

Butterfield was reportedly found with containers holding 11lbs of the controlled drug, which would have an estimated street value of about $250,000. He initially denied the offences but elected to reverse his plea during a mention appearance in court.

Puisne Judge Charles-Etta Simmons ordered a social inquiry report and a drug assessment, granting Butterfield bail until later this summer, when he is expected to return for sentencing.

She warned him that, despite being given bail, he may still face a prison term.
