The final whistle has blown on another rollercoaster Royal Gazette Fantasy Football season.

No more praying for a Charlie Austin consolation goal, cursing bringing in Harry Kane too late or slamming your mouse down in disgust as José Mourinho rests your captain without warning.

Our league — which featured 446 managers — got off to a flying start and kept pace to the very end, something the real league failed to do.

At stake was a total of $3,000 worth of prizes — $1,000 for the overall winner, $500 for the runner-up, $300 for third and $200 for fourth. There was also a $100 monthly gift certificate, or cash if the winners prefer, for each monthly winner.

And it has to be said, there was something Mourinho-esque in the way dugout guru Bruce Stocker led his Spartak Daisy side to overall glory with 2348 points. No doubt he’s planning the open-top bus parade through Front Street as we speak. Congratulations, sir, the $1,000 is all yours.
