Is MP oblivious to our two-tiered society?

OBA MP Leah Scott

Dear Sir,

I was struck by Leah Scott’s concern for the people who are not being listened to, as expressed on the floor of the House last Friday.

Therefore, I am surprised that she seems so oblivious to the two-tiered nature of our society as a result of the deliberate racist policies introduced in 1834 when black slaves were supposed to become citizens and has been maintained ever since — despite significant changes that have taken place.

It is so obvious that those changes have not addressed the two-tiered nature of our society that she should be aware that when she tells us to stop talking about race, she is simply reinforcing the continuing racist nature of our society.

As long as we all accept white supremacy as if it is “natural” and the way it should be, and we should stop talking about it, not being listened to is just one more of the social disadvantages that blacks will have to deal with, while the white community will be reassured that they have a right to the unearned privileges that they enjoy.
