You Go Girls: Deon Breary, Jennifer Alen and Victoria Fiddick race towards Albuoy’s Point on the final leg of yesterday’s relay

Victoria Fiddick, Jennifer Alen and Deon Breary successfully defended their You Go Girl Relay title in Hamilton yesterday.

The Bermuda Bums team finished the 6-kilometre course in 23 min 01 sec, comfortably ahead of The Run Boxers — Stepanka Sprincova, Sharlen Sousa and Krista Dyer — who were second overall and won the corporate division in 23:53.

In all some 354 participants competed in the women-only race, which raises money for the Women’s Resource Centre.

Yesterday was the first time the race has taken place in Hamilton, and took the runners from Albuoy’s Point to the Sir John Swan building in a 2k loop that was repeated three times.

The event, which has grown year after year, will celebrate its fifth anniversary next June and organisers are hoping to get 500 runners to celebrate the milestone.
