Grateful for Tag Day support

Orphans in Haiti are supported by the Feed My Lambs Ministry in Bermuda (File photo)

Dear Sir,

On behalf of the Feed My Lambs Ministry, I would like to convey our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed with monetary donations or helped out in any way to raise the grand total of $9996.64 during our recent Tag Day.

Seeing the death, horrific destruction and damage in Nepal following the recent earthquakes, it vividly reminds us of the enormous devastation in Haiti five years ago following the earthquake there when 220,000 people lost their lives and 1.5 million were left homeless.

Although a lot of progress has been made in the restoration of the country, it will take many more years of support to overcome the poverty, disease and homelessness there.

We are now supporting the FMLM Orphanage for 56 children, the FMLM Academy for 700 school children and the FMLM Medical Clinic.

Recently, the “Not Alone” Sponsorship Programme resulted in all the orphaned children getting sponsors.

The Academy Feeding Programme has also just been launched and this will guarantee that the 700 school children get three nutritious meals a week, which is essential to both their physical and educational well-being. Often the children go for several days without food and are painfully thin and very hungry.

We hope that many other planned projects will reach fruition soon and without the continued support of the very generous public, we would not be able to provide the much needed help we have been able to offer. We would also like to thank you and the staff at The Royal Gazette for the part you have played in publicising our work over the years.

Yours very sincerely, Linda Adderley (Feed My Lambs Ministry Tag Day Coordinator)
