Thank-you to Bermudian who helped us in our time of need

Dear Sir,

We have recently returned from a short visit to Bermuda – a lovely, mystical, unique place which we have visited on many occasions for the past 35 years, or so.

It is as beautiful as ever, as you know so well. However, we write this letter to thank a Bermudian who assisted us in time of need and then “took his leave” before we could get his name.

With that: To the kind bicyclist who stopped to assist the two Americans on an Oleander Scooter (and you stopped your ride no less than five times!) and then escorted us to the ESSO station near Port Royal Golf Club, we thank you. What could have been a very frustrating – and dangerous – afternoon on the narrow road back to the Naval Dock Yard turned out to be a wonderful story of a concerned local citizen who would not give up on two moped riders until we were taken care of by the Oleander crew.

We are most grateful of your time and assistance.

Should you and your family ever come to Charleston South Carolina, we hope you will find us so that we may return the favour. We say here in Charleston there are two things that truly matter: tides and manners. And, of the two, manners matter more! Obviously the same is true in Bermuda!
