It was great to see so many people enjoying Spanish Point Park last Sunday (July 5).

What was not so great was to see the litter left behind after the crowds left the park. The worst part has to be the broken glass all along the water’s edge, which has the potential for shredding the feet of swimmers.

I am at a complete loss at to why people cannot clean up after themselves. There are garbage cans in the park; why do people insist on ignoring them? Alternatively, for these people who refuse to walk the few yards to the garbage cans, they should consider bringing garbage bags to the park, fill them and leave the full bags at the end of their driveway when they get home.

We actually have people who will come to their house twice a week and collection this garbage!

How much easier does trash management have to be before people stop trashing the place where we all live?!
