Mixed results for Bermuda trio

Narrow loss: Lambe played little more than an hour in his side's defeat at Accrington

Nahki Wells’s Huddersfield Town drew 1-1 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Sky Bet Championship last night.

Beram Kayal made it 1-0 to Brighton after 17 seconds before Huddersfield had even touched the ball.

Jacob Butterfield equalised for the home side after the break with a powerful strike from a tight angle.

Also in action last night was Reggie Lambe, who could not prevent Mansfield Town from losing 1-0 away to Accrington Stanley in League Two.

Sean McConville scored the only goal of the game to give Accrington their first victory of the season.

Midfielder Lambe was substituted in the 61st minute.

Freddy Hall’s Limerick FC, meanwhile, squandered a two-goal lead to draw 3-3 at home to Longford Town in front of 1,779 supporters in the Premier Division of the SSE Airtricity League on Monday.

The basement dwellers’ woes were further compounded with second-from-bottom Sligo Rovers moving six points clear of Limerick after a 1-0 home win over Derry City.

There are nine games remaining of the top-flight season.

Limerick had failed to win any of their 18 league matches when Hall, the Bermuda goalkeeper, arrived at the club, but have since picked up three victories and a draw to boost their survival hopes. They return to action next Friday against Drogheda United.

Meanwhile, Danté Leverock’s Harrisburg City Islanders are away to Toronto FC II tonight in their United Soccer Leagues’ Eastern Conference match.

Islanders, who are four points adrift of the play-offs with nine games remaining, suffered a 5-1 defeat at home to Louisville FC in their previous game last Wednesday.
