Devonshire Cougars and Hamilton Parish face elimination from the Dudley Eve Trophy tomorrow at Bernard Park when they face Dandy Town and Somerset Trojans in must-win group matches.

Both teams lost their opening matches last weekend, Cougars edged out 2-1 by Dudley Eve debutants Robin Hood while Parish went down 1-0 to PHC Zebras.

Losses in their final matches will eliminate both teams and Parish will expect any favours from their Kieshon Smith, their former coach, who is at the helm of the Trojans.

Danvers Seymour Jr resigned after bringing a first league title to the club in 22 years last season.

Smith’s reign got off to a disappointing start, with Town beating Trojans 3-0 in the Charity Cup last weekend. Town are showing themselves to be one of the teams to watch this season with the ease in which they defeated Trojans to retain the Charity Cup.

They are also the defending Dudley Eve Trophy champions after beating Trojans by that same score in last year’s final.

Both Cougars and Parish had a new look about them at St John’s Field last Sunday, both teams having new coaches at the helm, although Parish’s coach Phillip Burgess is abroad. Kwame Steede has replaced Andrew Bascome as Cougars coach.

Town will play Cougars in the 3pm opener before Trojans meet Parish at 5pm. By the time the dust has settled, the only importance of the September 20 matches at Devonshire Recreation Club will be to determine who plays who in the semi-finals on November 1 at St David’s.
