GoPro is to feature as its Video of the Day a short film by three Bermudian brothers showcasing the Island as a destination for young adventurers.

Students Giles Lorimer Turner and his brothers James and William were approached by the major corporation to feature their film Infusion on its website and social media pages with the potential to reach millions.

GoPro’s Facebook page alone has close to nine million followers.

A GoPro representative sent a message to them saying: “The quality of footage and the youthful perspective of such an awesome travel destination is what intrigued us”.

The film, with music by Matt Gallagher, will be featured for the entire day on Thursday and will include links to other films the brothers have shot in Bermuda.

They bought a drone in 2011 and have been taking aerial footage of the Island every summer.

They have shot bird’s-eye views of scenes including Beachfest, Non Mariner’s Day and cliff jumping at Admiralty House, as well as some underwater footage snorkelling off shore at North Rock.

Giles told The Royal Gazette: “We had seen other videos with drones and now they are more consumer- friendly we decided to go for it. We had tried remote control planes and gliders but they all failed so we went with the drone. The GoPro Video of the Day is their main feature — that gets posted on their social media sites which is in the millions.

“What is most important for our videos is we don’t try to stage any of it. We try to make it as raw as we can.”

Asked whether more videos were on the way, Giles added: “This summer we said it would be our last summer but with all this recognition it seems people are enjoying them so there may be more.”

There first film in 2011 about Bermuda cliff jumpers was featured on the homepage of the Huffington Post.
