Lee signs Rugby deal

New club: Lee, right, has joined Rugby Town

Roger Lee, the Bermuda defender, has signed for English non-League side Rugby Town who play in the Northern Premier League Division One South.

Lee is expected to be on the substitutes bench in Rugby’s FA Cup second-round qualifying tie at home to Lincoln City today.

The 24-year-old will hope for an extended run of games for Rugby — who play in the eighth tier of English football — after struggling to make his mark at the non-League level.

A former Robin Hood and Somerset Eagles player, Lee failed make an impact after two spells at Ilkeston, who play in the league above Rugby, and also had stints at Weston-super-Mare and Gloucester City last season.

Lee’s agent Dan Chapman also represents Bermuda players Rai Simons, the Chesterfield striker, Reggie Lambe, the Mansfield Town winger, Freddy Hall, the Limerick goalkeeper, and Jonté Smith, who signed for non-League Gloucester City last week.

Rugby are 21st in the table after nine league games.
