Simons gets more game time
Rai Simons made his second successive appearance for Chesterfield in their 2-0 defeat away to Blackpool in the Sky Bet League One yesterday.
Simons, who was handed his professional debut in Chesterfield’s 2-1 defeat at home to Burton Albion at the weekend, came off the substitutes bench on 73 minutes for midfielder Dan Gardner.
Shortly after coming on, the 19-year-old Bermuda striker had a right-footed effort blocked by the Blackpool defence en route to goal.
Chesterfield, who travel to Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, have slipped to seventeenth in the table.
Meanwhile, Reggie Lambe, the Bermuda midfielder, returned to the starting line-up in Mansfield Town’s 2-0 win away to Stevenage in League Two yesterday.
Lambe picked up a yellow card midway through the second half.
