A driver has denied the manslaughter of a motorcyclist who died in a road traffic accident.

Patrick Richardson also pleaded not guilty to a series of alternative and additional charges in connection with the fatal crash on Middle Road in Warwick on April 18 this year.

Appearing at Supreme Court arraignments this morning, the 27-year-old pleaded not guilty to the unlawful killing of La-Nae Woodley. He also denied the alternative charge of causing Ms Woodley’s death by driving whilst impaired.

Mr Richardson of Hamilton Parish also pleaded not guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to pillion passenger, Deidre Morgan, by driving while impaired, and the alternative charge of causing grievous bodily harm to Ms Morgan by dangerous driving.

He was released on bail and is due to stand trial on March 7, next year.

In an unrelated case at arraignments a 53-year-old man denied a raft of drug charges and will go on trial in the new year.

Dwayne Gilbert denied possessing cocaine and heroin with intent to supply as well as possessing drug-related equipment and $11,920 in cash, which prosecutors say is the proceeds of crime.

Mr Gilbert was released on bail until his trial.

Finally in a third, unrelated case, Daymon Simmons and Erica Young, pleaded not guilty to possessing cocaine, cannabis and cannabis resin with intent to supply.

The pair also denied possession of drug equipment and allowing their Sandys property to be used for the use of controlled drugs.

The charges relate to an incident on August 27, last year.

Mr Simmons, 40, and Ms Young, 37, were released on bail and are scheduled to stand trial on April 5.
