A drug smuggler is facing prison after admitting trying to bring a stash of cocaine, heroin and cannabis into Bermuda.

Yesterday morning Kent pleaded guilty to three charges of importing a controlled drug during the monthly arraignments session at Supreme Court.

The 50-year-old denied three further charges of possessing the three types of drug with intent to supply.

Prosecutor Nicole Smith said the pleas were acceptable to the Crown and asked for the charges that Kent had denied to remain on the file.

Kent, who lives in Hamilton, was released on bail and will return to court on February 1 when a sentencing date will be set.

His lawyer, Elizabeth Christopher, asked that her client be given bail so he could “sort out his affairs and get them in order”. Meanwhile, in an unrelated case Eston Joell, 46, and Lekan Scott, 26, pleaded not guilty to possessing a firearm and ammunition on September 1, 2015.

Mr Joell also denied a further charge of possessing ammunition without a licence on the same date.

He was released on bail, while Mr Scott was remanded in custody. Both will reappear at the February arraignments when a trial date is expected to be set.

Finally brothers Melvin and Michael Brangman could stand trial next month in connection with a stabbing that is alleged to have taken place in Sandys on June 18, 2015. Melvin Brangman, 47, denied wounding Clifton Anderson with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm, while Michael Brangman, 45, denied being an accessory after the fact to a felony.

Both were released on bail and are expected to stand trial on February 15.
