KPMG and MAAC partner for Round the Grounds

The Round the Grounds Race will be held this month

KPMG is partnering again with the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Club to stage the eighteenth annual KPMG Round the Grounds Race on Sunday, March 20 at the Botanical Gardens.

Races include age groups from the fast four-year-olds who race over 400 metres through to the tenacious teens in the 13 to 18-year-old race and relay, who tackle a challenging 2.1 mile distance.

Parents are encouraged to sign their young athletes up early, as this year entries will be limited to the first 700 runners. Register online at www.racedayworld.com, or pick up a registration form at Sportseller, Washington Mall. Deadline for paper entries is 4.45pm next Wednesday, March 16 and online at 5pm on Friday, March 18.

In the KPMG Street Mile, Telford Mile and Dash at Dark held last weekend, Ta’han Eve, Carlina Mowatt, Milan Gibbons and Nhari Gilbert joined Nyori Dill as prospects to watch in the future.

In recent years the likes of Jasmin Hasselkuss and Shayla Cann have confidently taken podium finishes in the primary school girls’ races, while Jake Brislane has dominated the primary school boys.

In the Middle school age groups Jade Johnston, Zoe Hasselkuss and Selah Tuzo are three to watch, and in the boys Tommy Marshall and Kahzi Sealey.

This year Jessie Marshall and Ryan Outerbridge will need all their endurance as they face the tough 2.1 mile course for the first time.

Activities include crafts organised by Masterworks, a bouncy castle, ice cream, food from Homer’s café and other treats for the whole family.

Number pickup is on Saturday, March 19 from 12 to 2pm in the Masterworks’ courtyard in Botanical Gardens. Late registration at an additional charge will also be available at this time.
