Shares of Butterfield Bank surged 15.4 per cent in Bermuda Stock Exchange trading.The bank jumped $3.75 to close on $28.05 as 10,000 shares changed hands.Butterfield’s US-listed shares gained 53 cents, or 1.9 per cent, to close on $28.39 on the New York Stock Exchange on the trading of 262,640 shares.The only other stock to trade on the BSX was telecommunications group One Communications Ltd, which remained unchanged on $3.90 as 10,900 shares were traded.The Royal Gazette/BSX Index rose 168.66 points, or 9.47 per cent, to close on 1,948.86. Trading volume totalled 20,900 shares, while turnover was $323,010.The BSX Insurance Index added 12.27 points, or 0.8 per cent, to close on 1,554.47.
