Career strategist to lead coaching sessions

Heeral Gudka, executive coach and career strategist

Executive coach and career strategist Heeral Gudka will be in Bermuda this month to lead three workshops on women in leadership, coaching skills for managers, and diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

London-based Ms Gudka has worked as a coach and consultant for more than five years, and before that was an actuary in the UK and Bermuda.

Elevate Executive Selection Bermuda has teamed up with Convergent Consulting (London) to bring Ms Gudka to the island.

“In working very closely with clients in the past 12 months we have identified both individuals and organisations here in Bermuda striving to do more, to be more,” said Sylvia Jones, director of Elevate’s operations in Bermuda.

“We want to help. Our poll, aimed at identifying key areas of interest for further personal and professional development, yielded results to which we have specifically catered these workshops.

“Our coaching sessions help high achievers identify a clear goal-focused path to success so that they not only reach their potential but exceed it.”

Ms Gudka has a corporate background, previously working for PwC, Hiscox, QBE and Enstar. Ms Jones said this gives her an understanding of the pressures of corporate life, adding credibility and empathy to her coaching skills.

“It is Heeral’s authenticity that makes her a good fit with Elevate’s aim in hosting these sessions: to help build a better Bermuda by encouraging leadership development and fostering a culture of shared success,” said Ms Jones.

The workshops will be held at Ideation House, on Pitts Bay Road. The first session is on May 16 and is invitation-only for members of Elevate’s C-suite circle. Held from 8am to 9.30am, it is titled “Coaching your team” and explores the coaching skills needed by managers to tap into their team’s potential.

On May 17, the workshop is titled “Women in leadership”, and will give practical advice on building influence, getting ideas heard, and creating a self-sustaining network. The workshop is for woman at all stages in their career.

A workshop titled “Diversity and inclusion” will be held on May 18, and will address diversity and present effective tools to develop an inclusive workplace. The session is particularly aimed at those in larger organisations who might benefit from insights on how to recognise and value difference so that a more inclusive workplace is achieved.

The May 17 and May 18 workshops take place from 12 noon to 1.30pm, with light lunch served. The cost is $130 for each session.
