Meritus Trust Company picked up a bronze award at the Citywealth 2018 Powerwomen Awards.

Bermudian-based Meritus got its award in the Company of the Year — Female Leadership Team (SME) category. In a statement the company said it was delighted to recognised in the category as women in leadership is close to its heart.

The six-strong executive team at Meritus features five women. The company serves wealthy international families, including family offices, private family trusts and reserved power trusts.

The Citywealth awards were presented by special guest Will Greenwood, a former rugby player who was part of England’s 2003 World Cup-winning team.

Gold, silver and bronze awards were announced in 20 categories. Winners were selected from a shortlist of more than 100 candidates drawn up by ten judges, all prominent figures from the wealth industry. Additional online voting was verified by an independent third party.

Karen Jones, editor and chief executive officer of Citywealth, said: “Citywealth is delighted to have discovered a thoughtful and self-assured group in our Powerwomen finalists who will prove to be role models for women joining or returning into the wealth management industry.

“It is a pleasure to support their work and business development with these accolades. Congratulations to all the women who have been recognised in the Powerwomen Awards 2018.”

The evening raised almost £5,000 for the charity Shooting Star Chase, a leading children’s hospice charity that supports terminally ill children.
