Financial literacy series to return

Financial literacy series back by popular demand

The CFA Society’s Financial Literacy series at the Bermuda College, is back by popular demand.“What makes our classes unique is that we dig in with real life examples,” said series co-ordinator Robin Masters. “People want to talk about money, but often they’re afraid to, perhaps from fear of being judged, maybe not knowing who to turn to, or maybe they just need to find the right environment.“We provide information, share stories, tips, and have conversations that will help people learn more and hopefully make positive changes in their own situations. The level of engagement from participants in the course has been outstanding, in fact people actually know more than they give themselves credit for. What many need is the confidence in their own decisions.” The four-week series kicks off on January 15 and is open to anyone who wishes to register through the Bermuda College Professional and Continuing Education department.CFA Society Bermuda will also once again sponsor the PlanetMath radio quiz show on Vibe 103, Mondays and Fridays at 7.30am.“The public’s response to our financial literacy theme, with all questions focused on financial literacy, was fantastic,” said PlanetMath co-founder Sergio Pitcher. “We’ve got some interesting and challenging questions coming up, all focused on helping young people develop good financial habits.”Ms Masters said they were encouraged by other efforts in the community, believing a better-informed person is a better and smarter user of financial products.“We are hoping to expand our partnerships beyond the college relationship and encourage any non-profit or any other groups who feel their membership may benefit from financial literacy education to contact us,” she said. “ We can look to tailor our sessions to more specifically meet the needs of their members.”CFA Society Bermuda is the association of financial analysts and other investment professionals in Bermuda. Its mission is to promote the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence in the investment industry for the benefit of members and the broader community in Bermuda.”• To contact PACE at the Bermuda College call 441-236-9000 ext 4119.
