A woman who publicly threatened to shoot the chairwoman of the Progressive Labour Party will be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court next month.

Pattie-Jean Jones, 70, admitted telling Joella Dawn Simmons “I’ll shoot you lot” when she appeared in court today.

Ms Jones, from Warwick, shouted the threat on Union Street in Hamilton, where Labour Day celebrations took place, during the public holiday on Monday.

Magistrate Tyrone Chin ordered a social inquiry report be written for Jones and released her on $1,000 bail until October 28, when she is expected to be sentenced for the offence.

Jones was also ordered to not contact Ms Simmons and to report to Hamilton Police Station once a week.
