Former Bermuda footballer Lashun Dill was this morning fined for failing to stop for police, although he claimed he did not know he was being followed by officers.

Dill, 37, from Devonshire, pleaded guilty to two traffic offences, both of which took place at around 2am on August 6, 2015.

According to prosecutor Cindy Clarke, officers were on mobile patrol on Harrington Sound Road when they saw a motorcycle, ridden by Dill, travelling west at high speed.

The officers followed Dill, who was said to repeatedly turn around to look at the officers. Rather than slowing down, Dill allegedly accelerated.

Eventually Dill turned onto Barker’s Hill, without slowing or indicating, and near the top of the hill attempted to perform a U-turn, dropping the bike in the process.

After the summary was read, Dill said: “All of that is a lie, but I am guilty. I never knew the police was in back of me. They didn’t have their sirens, so I didn’t know who they were.”

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson fined Dill $200 for failing to stop for police, and another $800 for driving carelessly.

Dill, a forward, has made several appearances for Premier Division side North Village this season. His previous clubs include Bermuda Hogges, Dandy Town and Butterfield & Vallis in the Corona League.
