Man duped homeowners over soil delivery

Magistrates’ Court

A 48-year-old man admitted deception offences in Magistrates’ Court.

Schai Govia pleaded guilty on Friday to two charges related to failure to deliver soil and fencing to two Southampton residents in exchange for cash.

The first incident happened on July 18 when Govia accepted $100 from Jacqueline Zuill for soil.

The second incident occurred on July 29 when he was given $200 for soil and fencing by Gerardo Desio.

Neither received what they had paid for.

Govia denied a further charge that he attempted to take $50 from Anna Moniz in exchange for soil on August 21.

Govia, from Southampton, was released on $2,000 bail and the case was adjourned until September 23.
