Teen racks up $3,725 fine

A teenager was fined almost $4,000 after he admitted a slew of traffic offences in Magistrates’ Court.N’Zharie Thomas, 17, pleaded guilty on New Year’s Eve to riding an unlicensed motorcycle, riding without third party insurance, dangerous driving and disqualified driving by reason of age.He also pleaded guilty to riding with a defective horn, riding with defective breaks and riding with a defective stoplight.The offences took place on December 30 in Pembroke.Thomas was also charged with wilful obstruction of a police officer and violently resisting arrest on the same date and parish.He pleaded not guilty to both offences.Magistrate Craig Attridge adjourned the case until February 3 and released Thomas, from Pembroke, on $2,500 bail.He also fined Thomas a total of $3,725 and banned him from the roads for 18 months.• It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding court cases.
