Bermuda all-rounder Kamau Leverock led the scoring for the ICC Americas team with 21 runs as they suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Barbados Pride in their second match of the West Indies Cricket Regional Super50 Tournament on Saturday.

Leverock, opening the innings again, was the only ICC batsman to pass 15, and one of only four in double figures, as they were bundled out for a paltry 103 in 34.2 overs at the 3Ws Oval in Barbados.

The home side picked up their second victory when they reached their target off 29 overs after Test opener Kraigg Brathwaite extended his good form with an unbeaten 42.

Brathwaite faced 86 balls and hit four fours after putting on 49 for the first wicket with left-hander Anthony Alleyne who struck 27 from 34 balls with two fours and a six.

When Alleyne and Shai Hope (6) fell in the space of 20 balls to leave Pride on 64 for two in the seventeenth over, Brathwaite added a further 41 in an unbroken third-wicket stand with left-hander Jonathan Carter who finished on 24 not out.

Earlier, off spinner Seymour Nurse took four for 26 and slow left-arm bowler Sulieman Benn three for 20 as ICC Americas struggled with the bat after winning the toss and batting first.

They made a decent start when Leverock and Srimantha Wijeyeratne (13) put on 30 off 42 balls for the first wicket.

However, once fast bowler Kemar Roach, two for 32, had Leverock caught at the wicket, the innings quickly fell apart as wickets fell steadily.

Tottering at 61 for six, Timroy Allen (13) and Akeem Dodson (8) tried to bail the innings out with a 23-run stand but those hopes were dashed when Benn had Dodson stumped in the 28th over.

In the ICC’s first game, Leverock stroked 26 from 27 balls opening the innings against the Combined Campuses and College Marooners, which they lost by seven wickets at the Windwards Cricket Club last Thursday.

Leverock went into the match in good form having hammered a polished 54 in a tournament warm-up game against a Barbados select team two days previously.

The ICC Americas team is made up of players from the United States, Canada and Bermuda. They are in action against the Guyana Jaguars at Windwards Cricket Club today, while Barbados Pride face Jamaica Scorpians at the Kensington Oval. On Wednesday, the ICC play the Scorpians.
