Armed robbery at Belvin’s over weekend

A man armed with a bladed article robbed the Belvin’s Variety on Glebe Road in Pembroke in the early hours of Saturday, police reported.

Officers responded at 6.42am, a spokesman said, after the intruder made good his escape with an undisclosed sum of money.

The suspect is described as 6ft, of a brown complexion and “average build”, the spokesman said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 295-0011.

Police also reported arresting an intoxicated man at about 5am on Saturday.

Officers took the man into custody after he was reported kicking over bikes along Victoria Street.

And shortly before 2pm on Friday, a woman was arrested and held by police after drawing the attention of an off-duty officer in the area of the Wok restaurant, Southampton.

The woman was searched after she was spotted sitting on a motorcycle with a suspicious parcel, and two twists of possible illicit drugs were found beside the vehicle.
