Police to check bars are obeying rules

Police will visit restaurants and bars to ensure they are not breaking Covid-19 regulations over the Cup Match weekend.

A spokesman warned that a $6,000 fine could be imposed on any premises that allowed large groups or broke the rules on social-distancing and the use of face masks.

The spokesman said: “The BPS will be visiting establishments across the island throughout the holiday weekend and are obliged to report any breaches.

“We will also be investigating any reports of breaches that are made to us.”
