Bermuda’s education minister this morning congratulated the new president of the Bermuda Union of Teachers on her election.

Diallo Rabain said that he was “encouraged by the opportunity to collaborate” with Nishanthi Bailey and the other new members of the BUT’s executive committee.

Anthony Wolffe will serve as the union’s vice-president.

Mr Rabain said: “I am confident that Ms Bailey and Mr Wolffe will provide strong leadership and valuable insight to the work being done at the BUT.

“I look forward to building upon the ministry’s relationship with the BUT and congratulate Ms Bailey and Mr Wolffe on their new and renewed roles.”

Elections for the union posts were held at the BUT’s annual conference at the Hamilton Princess&Beach Club on Monday.
