New acting principal at Clearwater
An acting principal has been appointed to lead a St David’s middle school.
Lisa Swan will start the role at Clearwater Middle School on January 1.
Ms Swan, the former principal of Heron Bay Primary School, in Southampton, will replace Garita Coddington.
She was principal at Heron Bay from 2015 to 2017, before she became the Assistant Director of Student Services for the Department of Education.
Ms Swan also served as deputy principal at Francis Patton Primary School, in Hamilton Parish, for a year from 2014.
She has also worked as a special-education teacher, school psychologist and assistant principal in the United States.
Ms Coddington announced her resignation from the post in a letter written to the parents of Clearwater pupils last month.
She said that the decision was made with “gratitude and mixed emotions” and that it had been an “honour and privilege” to have been a teacher.
Ms Coddington was reassigned to Clearwater after TN Tatem Middle School, in Warwick, where she also served as principal, was closed due to mould and other health and safety problems last year.
She said in her letter to parents that she had enjoyed being a part of Clearwater school.
Ms Coddington added: “It has been an honour to work with the dedicated colleagues who work hard to put the needs of students at the forefront. My short time as your leader has been memorable.
“You embraced me as the incoming leader and have been very supportive. For this, I am so grateful.”
