Asthma experts on hand at Washington Mall
Liz and Tracy (Open Airways asthma nurses) are popping-up in Washington Mall from 11am to 2pm every Friday through to end of November.
Do you have good control of your asthma? Are you wheezing, coughing, or waking at night with your asthma? Are you using your blue relief inhaler more than twice a week? Have you been to the emergency room this year for a flare up of your asthma?
Asthma is very common in Bermuda affecting about 8000 people (1in 5 children and 1 in 10 adults)
Based on a survey carried our earlier this year by Open Airways we know that many people with asthma do not have good control and are accepting a life with asthma symptoms, they feel it is normal to use their blue relief inhaler regularly. Every emergency room visit for asthma is a failure of asthma management and with approximately 4 people visiting the emergency room every day for asthma attacks, we know that asthma care in Bermuda is failing.
Open Airways wants to improve this and is encouraging people with asthma to reach out for help, come and talk to us on Fridays at our Washington Mall pop-ups (on the lower level) or contact us on 232 0264 or www.openairways.com
Liz and Tracy are available to answer your questions, check your inhaler technique, advise on asthma treatment choices, discuss asthma triggers and provide spacers if needed.
Let’s improve asthma control and so improve the lives of many people in Bermuda.
