New cases of Covid-19 have been found in Bermuda’s care homes, the Government has revealed.Kim Wilson, the health minister, said that a total of 44 cases of the virus had been detected after tests at care homes — three more than on Monday.It was not confirmed if the new cases were among residents or staff, or at which rest home or homes the cases were found.Ms Wilson said on Wednesday: “As of today, we have tested 247 care home residents and 302 staff members from 12 different care homes. “Of all those tested, 505 results have come back negative with 44 positive. “We plan to finish the testing of all care homes by Sunday.”Outbreaks of the virus have been confirmed at Westmeath Residential and Nursing Home, in Pembroke, and the Matilda Smith Williams Seniors Residence, in Devonshire. The Ministry of Health said late on Tuesday afternoon, in response to a question, that two care homes had Covid-19. There was no response to a request for an update on that figure yesterday.
