Unions to mark Labour Day

Bermuda’s unions will celebrate Labour Day next Monday with speeches from labour leaders and government ministers.

The event, to be held at 11.30am in Union Square, Hamilton, will include entertainment, fire truck displays, food and vendors.

The Bermuda Industrial Union’s 38th anniversary Labour Day banquet will be held on Friday night at the Fairmont Southampton, with Mike Charles, the general secretary of the Bermuda Union of Teachers, as the main speaker.

Tickets to the BIU event cost $125 a head.

The banquet opens with cocktails at 6.45pm with dinner at 8pm.

Dress will be semi-formal.
