We need to bring back the special buses

Tourist season: there was always a special bus from Dockyard to Horseshoe Bay, pictured

Dear Sir,

I recently experienced something unusual while waiting for a bus to Hamilton. Tourist season is up and going — we can all attest to that — but when four buses full of tourists passed myself and others who were waiting, it left me with a feeling of frustration.

Here is the reason why: there was always a special bus that picks up tourists, and travels from Dockyard to Horseshoe Bay, to ease the overcrowding on buses that locals use daily.

It has been told to me that West End Development Corporation has ordered the Transportation Board that these buses will no longer be required. Why? Did Wedco take into account that locals will be upset? Is the Government aware of this? Generally speaking, we welcome tourists coming to Bermuda. We give them guidelines how best to get around the island. Many of us go out of our way to make them feel comfortable travelling around Bermuda. But not to our detriment. It’s frustrating. Bring back the special buses.

The blind see.
