Dear Sir,

The Rogue — a fitting name for one or many.

That is what we have in our midst, people who deposit debris in the entrance to Fort Hamilton without a conscience of the depravity of the crime.

This tells us and the authorities that the perpetrators must be found and punished. The damage and shame for Bermuda in the light of this shocking behaviour, must surely tell us that they should be found — at all costs.

Are they Bermudian? As they sit and read the front page about their crime, are they proud and pleased with themselves?

Especially in that they got away with it? No effort or expense should be spared to apprehend and to punish them, for they will do it again and maybe have done it before.

Place all the expertise available to solve this crime.

Offer a reward to which we can all contribute, to make it so tempting and attractive for whoever will come forward to tell what they know in the strictest of confidence. There should be a punishment when they are found: place them in the stocks in St George’s Town Square for so many hours a day for so many days, no guard needed, so all could see the disgrace that can be levied out for a repeat.

They then must be responsible for cleaning up the debris that they left, and finally given a penalty that would suit the crime, such as cleaning and being responsible for all the public toilets in whatever jurisdiction the judge chooses for several years — and a hefty fine.

These responses to the crime should be a warning to anyone.
