Dear Sir,

Status delays. This is the principal reason why 5,000 residents have recently left the island and it is also the main cause of the financial difficulties affecting local businesses.

Further, it significantly increases government debt, which has grown to an unsustainable level.

Bermuda would be far better off to simply issue status certificates to all applicants. They have already been fully screened to obtain permanent resident’s certificate status.

Doing so would certainly deter many more PRCs from leaving.
