Why silence about murderous gang culture?

Deafening silence: Chris Furbert, right, and the Reverend Nicholas Tweed

Dear Sir,

The silence is deafening. Where are Chris Furbert and the Reverend Nicholas Tweed? If they are such great leaders who can put together the level of resistance to the immigration reform, why have we not heard from them regarding the murder of young black Bermudians?

Gang culture is now a part of our Bermuda lifestyle.

Is anyone home? Where are all the civil servants and their families that congregated on the hill?

If these civil servants are strong enough to stop the Government changing immigration policies, I put it to you that they are strong enough to pressure the powers that be to put in place a strategic plan to rid Bermuda of gang culture and its murderous behaviour.

Our social lifestyle will only deteriorate to the level that we as Bermudians will allow.

To use the excuse that there is not enough money to police this problem is a lame excuse.

If the people of Bermuda demand that this behaviour is stopped, then the Government, the Governor and the Police must find the will to stop the gang culture — “If you have the will you will find the money!”

If our police commissioner does not have the will to do the job and does not have the management ability that is required, then replace him with the right man to make it happen.

To Marc Bean and the Progressive Labour Party, I put it to you to stop whining about the new airport and push the One Bermuda Alliance to find the will and resources to remove all gang culture from Bermuda, our island home.

Show your integrity by publicly supporting efforts to remove murder and gun violence from our beautiful island home.

Again, Chris Furbert, the Reverend Nicholas Tweed, are you concerned about immigration but not concerned about your young black brothers killing each other?

To those that are truly concerned about Bermuda, speak out about this murderous behaviour — now.

If you want your children and grandchildren to enjoy the Bermuda lifestyle that we know, act now. Don’t wait to lose a family member before you speak out.
