Searching for Michael King family

The House of Commons in London, England

Dear Sir,

I pray this finds you, your staff and all the lovely residents of Bermuda happy, healthy and well.

I knew a man called Michael King in London in the early 1960s. He was a big man with a big personality, and we were at college together.

Recently he came into mind because a friend of mine and his girlfriend were going to visit the House of Commons. He asked if I had ever been there and I said a few times, but the first time was with Michael and it was to attend Prime Minister’s Question Time.

He had two very rare tickets and asked me to go along with him. The reason that he had them was because there was a question that was going to be asked to do with Bermuda, and his dad arranged for him to go along.

It was a joy to be there, I can remember it as if it was yesterday.

Sir Alex Douglas Hume was prime minister and Harold Wilson leader of the opposition. In fact, the question wasn’t asked because of time and a written reply was later given.

Michael was in my mind and so I put his name and Bermuda into the internet. It was then I learnt that he passed early last year.

I then thought I would write a letter to his family. As there were quotes in your article about him from his brother, Bob, I put his name on the letter.

However, I don’t have an address for him or any of the family, but because of the connection with your paper, I thought I would write and that God willing, it will get to them.

I never saw Michael since I left college more than 50 years ago, but he was such a huge personality and such a tremendous chap that I just thought I would write a few words.

God bless him, you, your family and staff, and all the lovely people of Bermuda. Thanks once again. Always in my prayers.
